It started out like a regular day
but in the end
you started to slip away
and when you went
the others floated up
reminding me of all I have lost
You are now gone
and in your wake
your family mourns
and I still sit and stare
upon the shore
of the sadness that was
I stood in the wind today
to feel the force of life
blowing through me
to remember to be present
in this moment
but memories keep coming
I hold them for a moment
then let them go
with the wind
